Ishikiri Oden is loved by local
people for over 100 years

Origin and History of Suzuya
Suzuya has been operating a restaurant in this area since the Meiji era, and has maintained the same taste since its establishment. We have been serving Oden to many people every day with the wish that they will be healthy and healed by the blessings of the Ishikiri-Tsurugiya Shrine.
A local delicacy that has been loved for over 100 years,
The atmosphere and history of Ishikiri are concentrated here,
We hope you will try our oden, which can only be tasted here,
We hope you will try it for yourself.

The “tin” in Ishikiri “rings well!”
Actually, the name has a deep meaning.
Many shrines have a large bell that makes a clear sound.
It is said that the sound of the bell has the power to call the gods and to drive away evil spirits. It is believed that the louder the bell is rung, the farther the sound reaches and the more it reaches the gods.
So, the bell is believed to have the auspiciousness of “ringing well,” or in other words in Japanese, “getting well.
The name “Suzuya” is derived from this play on words that expresses the wish to “get well.
For more than 100 years, we have been operating our store near the Ishikiri-Surugi Shrine with a wish that everyone can spend their days with a smile on their face.
We are always supported by the smiles of our customers, and those smiles bring us the greatest joy.
We pray daily to “Mr. Ishikiri” for everyone's health and happiness, and we cherish our gratitude.
We will continue to support everyone's “well being” at “Suzuya”!
origin
Our restaurant “Suzuya” has been operating a restaurant in this area for over one hundred and ten years. The restaurant is currently located in front of the main shrine of Ishikiri Tsurugi Shrine, but it was moved to this location after the war. There is an underground water vein along the shopping street from the Kaminosha (Miyayama) of Ishikiri Shrine, and commerce has developed along this vein. Today, we still use this high-quality water, which is tested once a year as ultra-soft water with hardness ranging from 2 to 10 mg/L. |
